What you will do:
The Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Technology and manage a team of Architects, Senior and Associate Developers, and Interns. A week in the life is below:
80% Software development team management - The primary responsibility will be leading a team of software developers through the software development lifecycle utilizing Kanban. Typically you are not responsible for hands on development; however, you should be comfortable with the technology utilized by the development team. You will support your team by providing technical assistance and cross training to team members. You will perform code reviews and inspections for the purpose of program optimization and accuracy. You will effectively coach staff to meet personal, departmental, and organizational goals, including documenting and tracking progress and results. In addition, you are the first line of "defense" for the team to help partner with the PMO on requests, to help them build their cards in Jira, and help the developers navigate or get card questions answered.
10% Hands on development Occasionally - Based on the bandwidth of the team, the complexity of problems, or the sensitivity of the problems you may take on some of the development or helping to provide architecture guidance for the development that is happening. You will be working in the Microsoft Technology stack.
10% Business Management - As the main point of contact for the development team you will partner with business stakeholders to understand what the business needs and how the team can help the business accomplish goals. You may work to help understand business requirements, to provide insight into what the development team can handle, and help to coach the business on gaps in what they are asking for or the capability of the technology to accomplish their goals.

1. Experience managing software development teams - 80% of this role will be focused on mentoring and supporting existing development teams. You will be responsible to lead a team of architects, senior and associate developers, and interns remote and onsite. A
2. Experience in developing in the full stack Microsoft Technology stack - They are a Microsoft shop end to end. They develop Web applications, and desktop apps in C#/.NET, SSIS packages, and are exploring mobile development in Xamarin and other platforms.
3. Ability to navigate business stakeholder relationships - 20% of this role is navigating business relationships and stakeholders who consume IT to ensure developers are able to focus on their project, proper processes are put in place for IT to run smoothly within the business, and overall success of the organization.
