Overview of Scheduler Role and Skills:
Collect patient information and insurance information
Ability to understand what should happen in different appointments and prepare the patients so they have what they need
Will put the patient on schedule for the practices (general or specialty)
Computer skills: coding in Cisco account, Meditech , and documenting all at the same time
Scheduling Specialists are required to maintain a working knowledge of all areas and modalities of the Centralized Scheduling Department. This position is responsible for the scheduling, pre-registration of patient appointments, and collection of patient demographics to include the referral and insurance authorization requirements to provide maximum financial reimbursement.
Types of Appointment scheduling: varies but can be for primary care, specialty practices, out patient services (test and diagnostics)
Mostly customer base is patients and internal on behalf of patient
scheduling, medical, insurance verification
Medical Knowledge (doctors office , hospital, knowledge of medications, insurance plans, health conditions)
Scheduling experience ( from a healthcare setting)
TYPING TEST: 40 wpm MINUMUM
MEDICAL TERMINOLGY TEST: 85% OR HIGHER
Dual Monitor and Multiple programs navigation is a MUST ( they use Cisco phone system Meditech software and spreadsheets--while on phone will be navigating and typing through out call)
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Scheduling experience from doctors office or hospital, CRITICAL THINKING, Multitasking, typing 40 wpm, proficient knowledge of medical conditions and insurances
