Actively seeking a Software Project Engineer to support a large company within the Rail & Transportation industry. This is a long-term opportunity looking for proven Project / Program Engineer with experience managing hardware/software programs.


  • Ensure successful on time, on budget delivery of an engineering and software solution
  • Lead work packet Project Monitoring and Control activities including maintaining schedule, CTC, MPR updates, meeting minutes, risk register, and change orders
  • Prioritization and monitoring of software problem report status, and execution of tasks within functional areas
  • Understands and integrates applicable CMMI, CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, IPC, etc standards.
  • Facilitates scope and requirement discussions with technical teams and customer
  • Active participation in optimal overall project technical solution
  • Understands and integrates applicable CMMI, CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, IPC, etc standards.
  • Ensure that project objectives are communicated to the project team and monitors that all technical project activities are aligned with the project schedule
  • Ensure that correct Configuration Management (including document management and transmittal process) is always in place


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline is required
  • Continuing education or certification in a Project Management, PMP, related discipline is a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a global engineering company is required
  • Prior experience with basic Project Management tasks such as: budgets, life-cycle, risks, task management status updates
  • Understanding and/or prior experience with software/hardware development, delivery, and integration life-cycle
  • Strong prior experience with Microsoft Office suite, scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera), requirements management systems, and software configuration tools
  • Prior experience managing small-medium sized projects and project teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, and manage tasking of cross-functional teams of varying skills/experience
  • Success with multi-tasking across multiple projects at given time
  • Builds effective relationships and has exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience in the rail or transit industry
  • Prior experience using SharePoint for project collaboration
  • Base understanding of TeamCenter, DOORS, ClearCase, CiearOuest or other prior experience with requirement document management databases
  • Base conceptual knowledge of Systems Integration, RAMS, Wayside, Carborne deliverables
  • Strong understanding of financial project management
  • Strong understanding of requirements management, customer negotiations, and scope management
