Description:

Seeking an experienced histology technician to assist research projects by performing immunohistological procedures, including tissue preparation, sectioning, staining, and imaging.

 Carry out procedures to characterize antibodies by immunohistochemistry, using human and animal tissues (mostly brain samples):

 Preparation of frozen blocks (tissue embedding in OCT)

 Sectioning of frozen tissue using a Leica CM3050 cryostat

 Sectioning of paraffin blocks using a microtome

 Immunostaining of sections

- Staining visualization is mostly chromogenic but fluorescent immunodetection is also commonly used

- Manual IHC (chromogenic or fluorescent) skills are required

- The ability to use an automated Leica Bond Rx or Biocare IntelliPATH FLX automated stainer is a plus

 Cover-slipping (manually)

 Imaging of slides using Hammamatsu Nanozoomer slide imager is a plus

 Use of a microscope to examine the quality of staining or perform standard microscopic tasks

 Other laboratory tasks:

 Maintain laboratory equipment

 Shelving and inventory of biospecimens and reagents

 Maintaining reagent stocks

 Work with CRO for outsourcing embedding and sectioning of tissue when necessary

 Collaborate with other research groups
