Bachelor's Degree within the Life Sciences with 15+ years of relevant experience.
Master's Degree within the Life Sciences with 10+ years of relevant experience.
PhD within the Life Sciences with 5+ years of relevant experience.
Requires previous experience with Thermal Processing.
Develop new methods of using liquid and dry palatants for improving palatability of canned pet foods.
Maintain certification status of preparing retorted pet foods.
Execute a continuous evaluation of new and existing ingredients and technologies regarding their functionality, implementation, and feasibility.
Prepare project summaries for internal and external use. Prepare formal project summary reports for internal archives.
Prepare and present research reports in multiple formats for both internal and external audiences.
Participate at Product Innovation Process meetings to facilitate development of new products and/or processes. Based on priorities established, participate in project teams.
Must be able to actively identify and lead research areas that could lead to new product development or process improvement, with minimal supervision.
Independently lead multiple R&D projects.
Work closely with other functional areas to ensure that new technologies are developed in an efficient and timely fashion.
Interact with Product Management and Technical team to address technical questions and provide solutions to problems.
Be knowledgeable in and interact with Regulatory Affairs group to ensure research efforts are in keeping with current industry and governmental policies.
Review and approve SOPs, research protocols, and research methods.
Troubleshoot issues with laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Participate in strategic planning and customer meetings.
Standard work week is Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.
