• Develop and optimize viral and bacterial culture assay to ensure proper quality and other performance requirements are achievable • Oversee PCR assay and Real time PCR quantification method • Work with BSLII pathogen culture and portray understanding of molecular biology laboratory and microbiology workflows and RNase-free handling • Develop and optimize lateral flow strip chemistry that is required for detection of post-amplification materials and result interpretation • Work with and communicate in an inter-department effort with engineering personnel to implement and test new design features to give the biological perspective on proposed engineering designs and any impact to chemistry • Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), manufacturing instructions, quality control test methods, and follow document control procedures • Conduct product scale-up and transfer into manufacturing, with any required support troubleshooting • Verify and validate testing using clinical samples and contrived viral samples • Lead projects and supervise a small team of other scientists, associate scientists, technicians, etc. • Reliable to problem-solve in a timely and successful manner • Effectively communicate results and development updates to management through meetings and reports • Mentor and “lead by example” for R&D and assay development project team members

• Ability to work independently • Work within an integrated multidisciplinary laboratory and be able to work with other scientists, technicians, engineers, and students on the team • Experience of fluorescence-based enzyme kinetic measurement • Interact and work effectively with a demanding, fast-paced biotech startup environment • Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or other Scientific degree • Five years relevant experience or two years of post-doctoral research laboratory experience • Experience with recombinant viral assay to ensure proper quality and other performance requirements are achievable
