We are currently partnering with the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in Northern CA to hire a phlebotomist for their lab. This is an outpatient lab environment and requires at least 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced lab environment.
The Laboratory Technician I/Phlebotomist will collect blood samples from in-patients and out-patients by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture, maintain supplies, process specimens, and upkeep the out-patient drawing stations. The person in this position will report to the Patient Services Supervisor. This person will also be in close communication with the laboratory office assistants and medical technologists. The Laboratory Technician I is free to make only those decisions which fall within the job duties. Unusual or highly technical situations must be referred to the medical technologists. Performs venipuncture or capillary finger or heel punctures on in-patients and out-patients using good aseptic techniques and skills. Performs specimen log-in, specimen tracking and maintaining the collection pending list and missed collection report . Assists with centrifuging, sending out, and distributing specimens in the specimen processing area. Maintains, cleaning, stocking, and replenishing the out-patient and inpatient specimen collection supplies.
- 2+ years of experience as a Phlebotomist
- CPT-1 License
- Inpatient/Hospital experience preferred
