Job Summary



Must Haves: 1. Ability to read and understand all aspects of Device blue prints 2. Ability to use and understand Micrometers, Calipers, Drop Gages and various go/no-go gages.
3. Previous production experience preferred.

The EDM Novice is responsible for performing job functions associated with using the Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) to modify specified Zimmer products, both sterile and non-sterile, purchased or manufactured by Zimmer according to the specifications and requirements established by Zimmer.

General EDM Functions:

Maintain a safe and clean work area including machines to perform EDM operations.

Observe EDM Worker while he/she performs labor transactions in JDE, DARS, and Respective Log Books and assist as directed by trainer.

Follow & Maintain production plan schedule otherwise specified by Supervisor/Team lead.

Transfer work in process goods to other departments/areas.

Assist in performing and recording In-process Inspection to insure released products meet released prints using basic measurement devices and Comparator overlays.

Use Micrometers, Calipers, Drop Gages and various go/no-go gages to measure and inspect product.
Set Up EDM Wire/RAM/Hole Drill Machines
Use Dial indicators and gages to align product and fixtures.
Use tether control to maneuver EDM machine.
Acquire and understand operational OS Specifications & Blueprints for setup process.

Maintain Equipment:
 Assist EDM Worker in completing in-process equipment inspections as per Trouble Shoot Visual Aids.
 Maintain equipment cleanliness as per 5S standards/Schedule.
Cleaning
 Assist EDM Worker in performing graphite electrode cleaning using a surface grinder.
 Assist with cleaning interior tank basin, including removing remnants, by shift.
