Job Summary

Job Description:

-Welder/Fitter(s) layout, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal-according to blueprint and layout specifications. Expectation of proficiency in welding & fitting.

Work Environment:

-A steel construction shop that fabricates large projects in house. Very new shop with nice equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

-Knowledgeable of AISC "Welded Joint Standard Symbols" as defined AISC 9th Edition.

-Familiar with craftsmanship criteria set forth in AWS D1.1-96.

-Knowledgeable in type sizes and grades of materials, ASTM A6 plate and shape "Standard Mill Practice".

-Able to read and understand weld symbols.

-Able to read basic shop drawings, shop detailed sketches and cut lists.

-Proficient at shop math and applicable geometry.

-Knowledgeable of AISC and AWS standards and workmanship.

-Able to perform most work with minimal supervision.

-Knowledgeable regarding angles, slopes, bevels, diameters and radiuses.

-Must be able to lift 50-90 lbs 3 feet

Additional Information:

Swing Shift, 3:30pm - 2:00am working 2 hours of OT and Saturdays 1:30pm - 10:00pm

Top Skills Details:

-Fitting and welding complex structural steel. Layout and fitting of i-beams, columns, channels, support structures. Reading blueprints and laying out according to print.

Interview Information:

-Fillet weld & 2g on 3/8th's plate. Will interview after weld test most likely - not before. Need to bring tools and equipment for weld test. If being considered for a fitter, bring those as well.
