Electrical Controls Engineer

Establish design criteria for assigned controls projects; architect robust solutions to meet requirements within the allotted timeframe and budget.
Work in a team of engineers to design and develop precision motion controls systems, driven by electric motors and set for precision tight tolerances and high reliability spaceflight applications. This is for a spaceflight hardware development effort.
Conduct testing and simulation of controls systems using Matlab and Simulink.
Generate design packages and Bill of Materials when required and work with multidisciplinary team to create manufactureable designs that meet mission criteria
Conduct formal component evaluations (fit for use) for precision electrical controls systems
Write programs for all included components such as servo drives, electric gimbal motors, Controllers, data processing, FPGAs, etc.
Top Skills Details:
1) Precision Controls engineering experience. Design and development of closed loop systems
2) Experience with Matlab and Simulink
3) Experience with high precision or high reliability systems
4) Experience with electric motors (gimbal motors) a big plus
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
BSEE - Electrical Engineering - or related technical discipline is required.
At least 5 yrs of relevant experience.
Experience with product development prototyping and new systems design through the full product lifecycle is required.
Experience and knowledge of control theory and piezoelectronics a plus.
Experience with opto-electrical/ electro-optical systems a plus.
Requires knowledge of closed loop controls systems design and development.
Experience with FPGA driven electronics a plus.
Experience with spaceflight hardware or other relevant mission critical, high reliability efforts is highly desired. This is to NASA spaceflight hardware standards but that is not required experience.
Experience with Matlab and Simulink is highly desired.
