MAJOR JOB DUTIES
Set up and operate wire feed mig welding machine that welds parts of fabricated metal products, as specified by blue prints, layouts, welding procedures and shop orders. Weld flat, cylindrical or irregular parts that may be clamped, tack-welded, or otherwise positioned. Clamp cylindrical work pieces onto turning rolls under stationary head to weld circular joints. Thread specified electrode wire from reel through feed rolls and welding head. Turn welding head to set specific angle of electrode. Turn knobs to set current, voltage slope and synchronize feed of wire with speed of welding action. Start machine and observe meters and gauges or observe welding action for compliance with procedures. Visually examine welds for adherence to specifications. Grind welded surfaces for penetration test. Adjust machine set-up to vary size, location and penetration of bead. Make trial run before welding. Re-weld defective joints, using hand welding equipment. Remove surplus slag, spatter using brush, portable grinder and hand scraper. Teach weld jobs to other operators, inspect product for defects.
Q welder must be qualified to weld certified ROPS
Other duties as assigned by management.

SUMMARY OF NATURE OR FUNCTION OF JOB:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
12 months of MiG welding preferred

Driver License required. Certifications desired.
