Construction Materials Technician

Entry-level up to 5 years of experience Construction Materials Testing Technician in Panama City. This person will also assist Engineers and other Professionals by performing a variety of testing, project specific observations, and site assessment duties. Operates equipment, conducts tests/assessments and reports data. Works from drawings, specifications, diagrams, schematics and specific verbal and written instructions. Uses specific methods to observe site activities and take samples and perform tests. Makes minor adjustments and modifications as needed.
Requires high school diploma/GED and valid/current state driver’s license and additional training in technical area preferred.
May require certifications/training such as: OSHA 40-Hour, ICC, NICET, ACI, AWS, ASNT, HAZWOPER, etc.
Positions require ability to lift and/or move 35-100 pounds regularly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
ICC Certifications in Soils, Structural Concrete, Post-tensioning, Masonry, Fireproofing (preferred candidate would have all 5 certifications, but all are not absolutely required) or a degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university
ACI Level I (minimum) for concrete sampling/testing, or the ability to secure such
NICET Level II in soils, or the ability to secure such
Radiation safety trained for the use of Nuclear Density Gauges, or the ability to secure such
5+ years’ experience performing multi-discipline special inspections & tests for ICC certified inspectors, or 0 – 3 years’ experience for degreed engineers
The ability to read plans & specifications
Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
Valid State Driver’s license with clean driving record
Work is generally performed unsupervised (i.e. employee is in the field as the Company’s representative) but under the direction of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.
