Description
Leidos is seeking a customer experience driven personality to join our team as a Streaming Video Engineer supporting our Enterprise Video Services team at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). A Streaming Video Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing video delivery systems. They possess a strong foundation in video distribution methods, encoding, and decoding technologies. This role works closely with various video formats, streaming protocols, and content delivery networks to deliver exceptional video experiences to end-users.
This position requires a results-oriented individual with exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills to help us deliver both program and customer facing metric data and analysis. Join us at AEGIS where the sky is NOT the limit!
Primary Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. This includes identifying and fixing problems with video playback, buffering, latency, and network connectivity.
• Monitor and maintain video and network equipment. This includes ensuring proper functioning of hardware and software components like encoders, decoders, servers, and network switches.
• Implement new video delivery technologies, including integrating new codecs, streaming protocols, or content delivery networks.
• Provide technical expertise and recommendations. Support other teams with technical knowledge and guidance on video and network related matters.
• Design the architecture of the video services infrastructure, includes selecting and configuring hardware, software, and network components to meet specific performance, scalability, and cost requirements.
• Plan for future growth and capacity needs, analyzing and forecasting future video usage patterns and ensuring the infrastructure can accommodate them.
• Evaluate the performance and efficiency of existing infrastructure. Conduct tests and analyses to identify bottlenecks, optimize resource utilization, and improve overall video service delivery.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and technology, supporting the customer by evaluating those new technologies that could benefit the AEGIS service and team.
Basic Qualifications:
• Proficiency in wireless networking and multicast protocols is crucial for efficient video distribution.
• Knowledge of network access control (NAC) is beneficial for securing video delivery systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and firewall configurations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of digital video content delivery methods, architecture, and technology
• Knowledge of structured cabling systems, using both copper and fiber infrastructure
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and co-workers

Pay Range:
Pay Range $68,900.00 - $124,550.00
