Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing safety, efficiency, and productivity across all aspects of our manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for implementing advanced manufacturing techniques such as Just In Time (J.I.T.), Kanban, and Manufacturing Cells to optimize labor costs, throughput time, and inventory levels. Your expertise will drive the development of manufacturing systems and procedures, ensuring alignment with production and cost goals.
Responsibilities
- Focus on safety in all job aspects and company meetings.
- Implement manufacturing techniques to reduce labor costs and improve throughput.
- Develop and implement operating procedures to support manufacturing processes.
- Train supervisors and support personnel in updated production processes.
- Upgrade manufacturing labor standards to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Create and update documentation for manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and recommend plant layout changes for better space utilization.
- Develop short and long-term manufacturing strategies and objectives.
- Participate in new product development to ensure compliance with manufacturing strategies.
- Perform other duties related to manufacturing techniques such as J.I.T. and Kanban.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of experience in Process/Manufacturing Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Production.
- Proven knowledge and experience in process improvements and implementation.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities.
- Proficiency in computer software, data entry, retrieval, and analysis.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with an Engineering focus.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Kaizen/Gemba Walk experience.
- Oracle ERP experience.
- Proficiency in Solidworks, Fanuc, and Yaskawa.
Work Environment
The work environment includes a non-climate-controlled plant operating in an older building since 1965. Offices are climate-controlled, but the engineer will spend 90% of their time in the plant. This role offers the opportunity to lead process improvements in various departments including Fabrication, Weld, Assembly, and Paint. The company is experiencing growth and expansion.
