Backlog already into 2023! Company is big on internal promotions. On the job experience with Automation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Field Services Engineers (These are Electro-Mechanical Engineers) should have material handling conveyor experience, or some other manufacturing maintenance experience. The candidate will be strong in both electrical and mechanical systems as well as the ability to troubleshoot PLCs such as Allen Brady and Siemens. This is a road warrior opportunity and the candidate must comfortable being on the road all year long where they will be able to return home for a weekend once every 4-5 weeks.

  • Associates Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
  • Candidate must possess strong electrical knowledge of up to 480 V and strong mechanical skills
  • Experience in working with computer-controlled machines (example)

The daily job responsibilities include ensuring that the conveyors, equipment, and electrical components are fully functional and ready for the client’s PLC team who will perform acceptance tests. This included performing IO Checkouts with Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, Siemens Step 7, or the clients proprietary commissioning software. The electrical components being commissioned include and are not limited to photo eyes, encoders, actuators, control stations, three phase motors, VFD’s, beacon lights, etc. This also includes being able to set up and troubleshoot various types of communication networks such as profibus and ethernet.

Electrical troubleshooting is the primary focus of this position. Being able to diagnose and identify the issue in the control panel or for an electrical component not functioning is critical as well as finding and implementing possible solutions using technical documents or manuals and different troubleshooting methods. This is a hand-on position where the individual may have to take apart the system in order to access the main components being tested or investigated in addition to replace broken electrical components such as photo eyes and wires.

It is important to note that this is not a strictly PLC programming position. The individual will not be creating the logic for the system from scratch. They will be in the ladder logic mainly to test the I/O on the system and diagnose any problems encountered. In most cases the costumer will have their own PLC team on site to support with any changes in the program however there are projects that will require the individual to modify and alter the logic as well as be more involved in the PLC programming process.

The position requires individuals to climb over and crawl under the conveyor systems and requires walking long distances in the distribution centers.
