The Global Commercial Excellence Business Insights Sr Analyst will support the development and execution of analytical plans which identify commercial performance and execution results as well as comprehend the impact of local market issues on sales performance and commercial execution. The role is responsible for translating real-world, abstract business questions into business models and tools that identify patterns and trends, provide actionable business insights, and prescribe sales force behaviors.
As a Business Insights Sr Analyst, you will work closely with multi-functional stakeholders including Marketing Research, Sales Operations, IT, Finance, and the Business to assure continuous evolvement of data science and actionable analytics at Abbott. The development of analytical tools and dashboards, metrics and processes are a core competency that the team provides. A candidate for this position would be well versed in programming, mathematics, statistics, data modeling and governance, PowerBI (or similar data visualization) tool knowledge and have strong business acumen. The ability to work in a diverse team and willingness to learn and grow will be a key attribute in the role. This position will be based in Alameda, CA.

What You'll Do
- Strategic Design: advising and determining the right set of tools and methodologies for the Commercial organization to improve business performance and more effectively drive Sales Force Effectiveness. Partnering across multiple functions in the development of short-term tactical as well as long-term strategic initiatives of the sales force management of projects. Analyzing and interpreting environmental factors that affect sales performance and make recommendations to sales management.
- Data Visualization Development: connecting data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business Intelligence. Design methodology and project documentation. Adept in developing, publishing and scheduling PowerBI and other Business Intelligence reports as per business requirements. Ability to perform quantitative analysis and utilize data modeling techniques to generate insights and highlight opportunities of ROI.
- Deployment: training and education of cross-functional Commercial stakeholders to drive adoption of developed processes and tools. Work with multi-divisional/functional stakeholders to define business opportunity, requirements, timelines, objectives, and success criteria. Ability to translate business needs and goals into an analytical approach and solution, and clearly articulate findings to a non-technical audience.
- Database Management and Reporting: Identify new opportunities to bring data and information into the organization to create a competitive business advantage. Identify predictive and prescriptive analytic opportunities to improve Sales Force performance. Utilize forward-thinking concepts such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
- Streamline business analytics and assess harmonization opportunities across geographies including platforms, systems, and reporting tools (PowerBI/Tableau, Salesforce.com)
- In collaboration with subject matter experts and data stewards, defines and implements data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure the enterprise data is accurate, complete and reliable.
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Statistics, Economics or related field required.
- 4-7 years work experience in related field (i.e. pharmaceutical, insurance, managed care) is preferred
- Must have technical aptitude to include expert level Excel or Access skills and broad based awareness of other analytical tools
- Demonstrated proficiency in modeling tools like trend analysis and optimization

- Develops business-oriented results with appropriate level to detail, keeps the right people informed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Pivot Tables, excel functions, dealing with large data sets
- Masters degree in Business, Statistics, Economics or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack having Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS.
- 3+ years of Data Preparation, data gateway and data warehousing projects.
- 2+ year of Direct experience using PowerBI or other data visualization tools as an enterprise reporting solution.
- 2+ years of familiarity and experience in SQL.
- Experience with Power Apps, including integration with PowerBI
- Experience with AI/ML tool creation
