Job Title: Machinist
Job Description
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision metal components used in energy, industrial, and field-service applications. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and experience machining parts to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment and capable of producing high-quality parts with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machines, including tooling installation, offsets, and program loading.
- Operate machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and work orders.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on tooling, feeds, speeds, and machine functions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Verify part dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements before starting production.
- Ensure all finished parts meet customer and internal specifications.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate production records.
- Identify non-conforming parts and take corrective action to prevent recurring issues.

- Experience with mills and lathes
- Precision machining to tight tolerances
- Blueprint reading
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Manual lathe or manual mill experience
- Programming experience
- Experience with g code
Work Environment
The work is conducted in a shop setting that may become hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Employees will work on manufacturing products such as valves, overlay old parts, and create custom work for pipes in geothermal applications. Shifts are from 5 AM to 1:30 PM in the summer and 7 AM to 3:30 PM during other seasons

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
