Job Title: Purchasing Coordinator
Job Description
As the Purchasing Coordinator, you will work with leadership to develop the procurement and purchasing business strategy for the company. You are responsible for developing and executing the procurement processes and procedures to maintain appropriate stocking levels. Partnering with ownership and the CFO, you will ensure buying is within the Open to Buy and product category budgets. Additionally, you will ensure accurate inventory and stocking levels.
Essential Functions:
- Implement excellent process discipline and technology systems to produce efficiency
- Track progress of inventory level targets and adjust plans as needed
- Develop organizational capacity through improved programs, policies, and systems
- Collaborate with leadership to develop procurement strategy for purchasing
- Maintain Open to Buy, reviewing on a weekly and monthly level with Finance to perfect the model. Ensure plans align with company-wide goals and regularly manage reconciliation
- Optimize allocation strategy across all stores and distribution locations
- Create analytics to evaluate appropriate stocking levels per product collection
- Forecast purchasing needs and complete demand planning (in keeping with ownership expectations)
- Verify validity of PM-created regional MSRP pricing plans by studying competitor pricing and trends in various markets. Bring suggestions for mark-up based on product type to increase buying power
- Develop and manage a comprehensive product discontinuation process
- Work with Product Managers to support all key product launches
- Receive markdowns from ownership for: Distribution to purchasing agents for POS updates and Transfer targets to optimize inventory across all channels
- Ensure issues with products, pricing, and ordering, are addressed with vendors
- Aggressively negotiate and pursue cost savings opportunities with suppliers and manufacturers
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and ensure EDI vendor compliance
- Deliver regular business reports that offer fact-based summaries of previous performance and profitability that will facilitate decision-making. Evaluate and analyze sales performance of all product categories
- Deliver weekly reports (e.g., backorders, low stocks) for branches and Outside Sales Reps
