Job Description
This role supports metal fabrication and forging operations by grinding forged metals and alloys, performing basic metal forming tasks, and assisting with general shop labor. You will work with hand and power tools, operate production machinery, and use precision measuring instruments to ensure materials meet exact specifications in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Grind forged metals and alloys to specified dimensions and surface finishes using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Perform metal fabrication tasks, including basic cutting, shaping, and forming of metal components.
- Use measuring tape, micrometers, and calipers to accurately measure materials and verify conformance to specifications.
- Assist with forging operations and support metal forming processes as directed.
- Operate shop machinery and production equipment safely and efficiently.
- Handle hand and power tools for grinding, cutting, and material preparation tasks.
- Perform general labor duties in the shop, including material handling, staging, and cleanup.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and quality standards.
- Hands-on experience with grinding forged metals and alloys.
- Ability to accurately measure materials using measuring tape, micrometers, and calipers.
- Practical experience with metal fabrication and basic metal forming processes.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools in a production or shop environment.
- Ability to operate machines and production equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
- Reliability and willingness to perform general labor tasks in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience working in a forging environment preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or metalworking shop is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of production workflows and shop safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet production deadlines.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment focused on forging and metal fabrication. You will work on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. alongside a production team, using hand and power tools, grinding equipment, and other shop machinery. The work involves standing for extended periods, handling metal materials, and operating equipment in an active shop setting that follows standard industrial safety practices.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irwindale, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
