Field AV Engineer (Commercial) – San Diego, CA

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Field AV Engineers to support a variety of commercial audiovisual (AV) projects across the San Diego area. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for professionals who are passionate about AV technology, system integration, and delivering high-quality installations.

You’ll be working across multiple job sites, supporting the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of AV systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot commercial AV systems
• Interpret and work from AV system design drawings and schematics
• Program and commission systems using platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, and Extron
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and technicians to ensure successful project delivery
• Maintain high standards of workmanship in line with InfoComm/AVIXA and manufacturer specifications

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5+ years of experience in commercial AV installation and engineering
• Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, system design, and integration
• Hands-on experience with Crestron, Q-SYS, and other control/DSP platforms
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Familiarity with networking concepts related to AV (e.g., AV-over-IP, VLANs, Dante)

Preferred Qualifications

• AV industry certifications (e.g., CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D)
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude
