Field AV Engineer (Commercial) – San Diego, CA
Location: San Diego, CA
About the Role
Seeking an experienced Field AV Engineers to support a variety of commercial audiovisual (AV) projects across the San Diego area. This is a hands-on, field-based role ideal for professionals who are passionate about AV technology, system integration, and delivering high-quality installations.
You’ll be working across multiple job sites, supporting the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of AV systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot commercial AV systems
- Interpret and work from AV system design drawings and schematics
- Program and commission systems using platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, and Extron
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and technicians to ensure successful project delivery
- Maintain high standards of workmanship in line with InfoComm/AVIXA and manufacturer specifications
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial AV installation and engineering
- Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, system design, and integration
- Hands-on experience with Crestron, Q-SYS, and other control/DSP platforms
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Familiarity with networking concepts related to AV (e.g., AV-over-IP, VLANs, Dante)
Preferred Qualifications
- AV industry certifications (e.g., CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D)
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design tools
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude
