Meta is seeking a talented attorney to work on Instagram's Privacy Legal team and advise the company on a range of privacy and data protection-related legal initiatives. This role is product-focused and will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to build products with a privacy-forward design. This will involve learning about new and modified features for Instagram products, identifying and investigating key design elements, coordinating with subject matter experts and regional counsel, and providing practical, actionable advice under global privacy laws.

Lead Counsel, Privacy (Instagram) Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data privacy and protection laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, and other global privacy laws)
- Work closely with product counsel and product teams to guide privacy-forward product development and evaluate the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions
- Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across Meta's business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
- Develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain Meta's ongoing privacy-by-design processes
- Help to develop and conduct general and role-specific privacy trainings across Meta
- Participate in internal privacy compliance programs and processes to ensure we meet our obligations under those programs
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm or in-house
- Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations
- Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially those relevant for social media and Internet companies
- Experience working cross-functionally to advance projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
- Business judgment and practical counseling skills
- In-house experience with applicable product counseling, compliance, litigation, or regulatory teams
- Strong and developed communication skills
- Experience prioritizing work and providing advice under deadlines
