Our Research & Development Division 's Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group within Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism and Bioanalytics Department in South San Francisco, CA, is seeking a summer intern. The DMPK group evaluates the adsorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion properties of therapeutic small molecules, peptides, and proteins in early discovery through drug development. The intern will contribute to designing in vitro and cell-based assays that will allow us to triage and predict the ADME properties of biologics and/ or peptides and will learn basic concepts of pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD). The intern may also be trained in the following techniques/methods: Flow cytometry, ELISA and UPLC-MS/MS. In addition to laboratory skills, the interns will have the opportunity to analyze, interpret and present data in various meetings and forums.
We are seeking intern candidates with strong academic performance, communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a multi-functional environment.

This is a full- time internship position. Housing subsidy is not available as part of this program and must be funded 100% by the student.

Required Education:
- Required: Candidates must be a currently enrolled graduate student pursuing a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Pharmacokinetics, Biology, Virology, Microbiology, Immunology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
- Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (12) consecutive weeks beginning in May or June of 2025.
- Candidates must have completed at least (3) years of studies toward their PhD degree or have earn their PhD candidacy by May or June of 2025.
- Candidates should have extensive experience with mammalian cell culture (2D and 3D), cryopreservation of cell lines and in vitro cell-based assays.
- Candidates should have experience with flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. Experience with Flowjo for flow cytometry data analysis is highly preferred.
- Candidates should have basic laboratory skills with good track record of lab safety and research experience, including Various biochemical assays and molecular biology techniques, such as protein labelling with fluorophores, SDS-Page, Western blotting, LC-MS/MS.
- Candidates should have strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, presentation and collaboration skills along with strengths in delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidates should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
