Job Description
Essential Functions: List of significant/essential duties, tasks and/or responsibilities required of this position. • Collect punches daily within timekeeping system and input corrections. • Review timecards daily and note every missing punch, late arrival, absence, late or long lunch and/or rest period, and short/long shift duration. Track down employees and respective supervisors to ensure the paperwork needed to resolve timecard discrepancies is completed. • Provide plant leadership with payroll-critical information and follow-up needed to ensure receipt. • Email Managers and Supervisors to resolve any discrepancies in scheduled shifts, correct employee schedules, and input pay codes and/or comments. • Monitor holiday pay per company policy and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable. • Monitor time calculation, including relief pay and night shift premiums, by reviewing timecard pay matrix totals. • Review and process vacation and sick time requests. Verify requests against accrual records. • Knowledge of Union Health and Pension Plans (e.g., Union Payroll Experience). • Process Status Change Forms for changes affecting timekeeping. • Assist with collecting W-4’s, changes to employee information, Request for Automatic Deposit Forms, Vacation Advance Request Forms, etc., and forward such to the appropriate Payroll Specialist. • On payroll-processing days, review all timecards for the previous pay period for each employee and ensure that all discrepancies are resolved and that each employee is paid accurately. • Upload timecard data to Payroll System for check processing. Perform needed adjustments after time import and finalize check calculation for the Payroll Specialist. • Prepare manual checks, as needed, for corrections and/or terminations. • Follow up to ensure all employees approve their timecards. • File and maintain payroll paperwork. • Respond to and assist employees with questions and/or concerns relating to payroll. • Resolve and/or facilitate resolution of problems, including identifying their root cause to prevent re-occurrence. • Follow all safety and working rules. • Must have the ability to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees, in accordance with company policies and working rules, while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment. • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality working environment. • Demonstrate excellent regular, full-time attendance in support of company objectives. • Use initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with the company's best interests. • Maintain a sense of urgency and confidentiality. • Possess a professional Payroll Ethic. • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
