Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for responding to inbound and outbound customer calls, ensuring high levels of customer service and productivity. The role involves direct in-person and phone-based interactions to resolve a wide variety of inquiries, answer questions related to pharmacy services, manage delivery inquiries, and handle refill and pharmacy assistance calls. Additionally, the technician will process new pharmacy referrals, verify insurance coverage, facilitate prior authorization requests, transcribe prescriptions accurately, and generate cycle fill calendar reports. Coordination of care initiation and maintenance of patient records according to HIPAA regulations are also essential functions.
Responsibilities
- Respond to inbound and outbound customer calls ensuring high-quality service.
- Interact directly with customers to resolve inquiries related to pharmacy services.
- Manage delivery inquiries, complete refill calls, and handle pharmacy assistance calls.
- Receive and process new pharmacy referrals and verify insurance coverage.
- Facilitate prior authorization requests and transcribe prescriptions accurately.
- Generate and follow-up on refill requests via escribe, facsimile, or phone.
- Coordinate delivery and serve as the first point of contact for service-related inquiries.
- Support pharmacological services by verifying fill lists and updating patient information.
- Coordinate care initiation with patients, caregivers, referral sources, and other providers.
- Enter patient information accurately into records and maintain them according to HIPAA standards.
Essential Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a board-approved pharmacy technician-training program
- 2+ years of experience in medical insurance, billing, or customer service
- Valid Florida Pharmacy Technician License
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (emphasis on Excel and Access preferred)
- Data entry experience
- Strong commitment to customer service

- DME experience
- Telephonic customer service experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish

Work Environment
This position is 100% onsite at a Specialty pharmacy attached to a community clinic. The shift runs Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and Fridays from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch (shortening the lunch break is welcome to maximize pay). The work environment is a high-volume filling setting, processing 100-150 scripts per pharmacy team per day, and operates in a team environment with three technicians and one pharmacist.
