Job Description
This position is focused on providing long-term engineering support for utility infrastructure projects, involving project coordination, administrative oversight, and communication. The primary responsibilities include coordinating, onboarding, tracking, and communicating for various engineering projects. The ideal candidate will be seeking a stable role in project coordination or engineering support.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume shared Outlook inbox, serving as the central intake for incoming projects and external communication.
- Act as a liaison between internal engineering teams and external stakeholders, including city and county officials, consultants, and utility partners.
- Onboard new projects by creating internal project tracking numbers and ensuring correct job phase and classification.
- Use Smartsheet to assign tasks, track progress, and support project workflows.
- Coordinate permit status inquiries and follow-ups, supporting tracking and communication.
- Respond to external inquiries regarding project or permit status in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform basic computer (GIS) tasks during onboarding, including creating project area polygons and adding layers.
- Support CAD file organization and completeness as needed.
Essential Skills
- Outlook management experience, specifically handling hundreds of emails per week.
- 5+ years of experience working in an administrative capacity supporting engineering or construction projects.
- Experience coordinating between internal and external stakeholders in support of engineering or construction projects.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Comfort supporting multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Background in construction coordination, utility coordination, or engineering assistance.
- Experience with construction, AutoCAD, construction administration, proposal management, permitting, GIS, and Smartsheet.
- Experience supporting utility, telecom, construction, or engineering projects.
- Exposure to DOT, municipal, or agency-related projects.
- Familiarity with permit or compliance coordination (tracking only).
- Light CAD or GIS exposure (not design-focused).
Work Environment
This role offers a long-term, stable position with structured onboarding and a realistic ramp-up timeline. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on large-scale utility and infrastructure projects. The position requires working on-site four days a week, with Fridays being remote. The workweek consists of 40 hours, with a start time between 7 AM and 8:30 AM. The company values reliability, follow-through, and communication over titles or degrees.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
