Lab technician will be working on new product development for Newels writing division. Will work under supervisor of Chemist to help with the testing. Will work on different projects assigned to them daily and will have a test plan that they will be required to carry out. Will work together with Chemist on various test plans to understand how many samples need to be ran. Testing incudes QC testing, claims testing, benchmarking testing, pH & Viscosity testing. Mix of chemistry tests and mechanical testing. Technician could work on adhesives, glue, pencils, or markers depending on the business need. This will allow for them to learn the science for the different platforms - testing is different for each platform Job Responsibilities Identifies cost and risks at the product component level to meet defined cost targets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must have an Bachelors degree in Science at a minimum with experience working in a lab - chemistry or bio degree is preferred 6+ months of experience testing in a chemistry lab Ability to follow up on processes Experience with various QC testing - measuring viscosity, pH, density, particle size Very fast paced environment - need someone who can be flexible and take on a lot of duties Experience working on an instron machine is a plus Clear and effective communication is key bc a lot of testing will be grey - need someone who can take charge and if there is a problem they can solve it and alert the people they work with immediately. Experience with developing test methods is preferred but not required • Demonstrates knowledge of problem solving techniques and methodologies • Demonstrated ability to maintain, set up and run typical mechanical lab equipment. • Demonstrated ability to summarize laboratory testing and data using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Demonstrates basic understanding of applicable manufacturing processing • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and basic project management skills • Demonstrates effective communication skills-verbal and written • Demonstrates ability to perform in a team environment • Demonstrates knowledge of working in a lab environment • Highly proficient in English; good communication skills • Experiences in Consumer Product industries will be highly desirable.
