Job Title: Low Voltage Lead Technician
*Job Description
The Low Voltage Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing and executing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low voltage systems, including security systems, fire alarms, audio/visual systems, telecommunications, and networking. This position requires technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients. The lead technician will work remotely completing low voltage system installations across the state of Iowa.
*Responsibilities
- Install, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex low voltage systems, often working independently to solve problems and meet project deadlines.
- Interact directly with clients, providing technical support, and ensuring that all work complies with industry standards.
- Complete training on various systems and complete turnkey installations as needed, including Structured Cabling, Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Systems, and more.
- Install, diagnose, maintain, and repair malfunctions in low voltage systems such as IP and analog cameras, video management software, Windows-based DVR/NVR hardware, access control systems, and intrusion systems.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to clients and other team members.
- Conduct system upgrades and implement new technologies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Develop solutions to complex problems, often requiring independent judgment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, managing projects from start to finish.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local codes, and safety regulations.
*Essential Skills
- 3+ years experience in the installation and service of Structured Cabling, Video Surveillance, or Access Control.
- 1+ years experience in the installation and service of Fire Alarm Systems.
- Basic computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work well with little to no supervision, both individually and in a team environment.
- Ability to collaborate with other trades and contractors on multi-disciplinary projects.

- Self-starter with great initiative and drive.
- Willingness to learn new systems and take on complex technology projects.
- Willingness to travel within the region and out of state to complete projects for national clients as needed with prior notice.

*Work Environment
Work primarily within commercial and multi-family properties. The position requires travel to projects/jobsites within Iowa Monday-Friday, with expenses and daily M&I per diem covered.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.
