Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to assist the Lab Supervisor in maintaining quality control systems and audits. The Chemist will serve as the primary contact for troubleshooting quality issues and performing quality control tests and analyses. This role is crucial for interpreting analytical findings to ensure compliance with chemical standards, and for communicating with contract customers regarding quality control issues.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lab Supervisor in organizing and maintaining quality control systems.
- Troubleshoot quality issues for the plant and quality team.
- Perform quality control tests and analyses.
- Interpret analytical findings to assess compliance with chemical standards and report findings to leadership.
- Perform all Quality Assurance Technician duties and responsibilities.
- Develop and validate low-level active ingredient assays.
- Assist in the repair and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
- Maintain a clean work environment using good housekeeping habits.
- Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
- Experience with HPLC, GC, and analytical chemistry.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biology.
- Laboratory experience with gas chromatograph and HPLC.
- Organizational and computer skills, including Windows OS and Microsoft Office 365.
- Working knowledge of gas chromatograph and HPLC operation and repair.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Project management experience.
Qualifications
- LCMS experience is a plus.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
- Willingness to grow and take on increasing responsibility.
- Ability to stand for long periods in extreme temperatures.
- Availability for rotating shifts, including weekends.
- Proficiency in English.
Work Environment
This position is based in a plant/warehouse/lab setting with moderate to loud noise levels. You will work near moving equipment and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and chemical and biological hazards. Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for various tasks for extended periods, as well as lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. The lab is undergoing major renovations, providing an exciting opportunity to grow with the company. Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with potential extended hours during the busy season (October – May) and flexible scheduling during the slow season.
