Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and manage the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting functions. This leadership role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial statements with regulatory and accounting standards. The Controller will work closely with the CFO and executive leadership to support strategic decision-making and maintain robust internal control systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure operational efficiency.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities.
• Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business strategy and performance improvement.
• Maintain and enhance accounting systems and processes, including experience with SAGE or similar ERP systems.
• Support ESOP administration and compliance, if applicable.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Sr. accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience in the construction industry and familiarity with CMS (Construction Management Software) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in SAGE Accounting Software or similar ERP systems.
• Experience with ESOP accounting and compliance is a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
