Job Title: Analytical Services Laboratory Technician

Job Description

The role involves performing routine testing on all samples within the Analytical Services laboratory. This position is essential for providing analytical data crucial for process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze various types of samples using physical and chemical analytical techniques.
  • Operate sophisticated analytical equipment including pH meters, spectrophotometers, and HPLC.
  • Conduct microbiological tests to determine spore counts and contamination levels.
  • Utilize the STARLiMS Laboratory Information Management System and other laboratory data acquisition systems.
  • Record, calculate, and report analytical results promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain records to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Perform daily instrument calibrations and inspections while adhering to safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Serve as a Safety Officer for the shift when required.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, prepare solutions, clean glassware, and manage waste.
  • Train others on waste management procedures.
  • Review analytical data and LIMS reports.
  • Communicate issues with team members and supervisors.
  • Diagnose instrument problems and assist others with similar issues.
  • Prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks to optimize laboratory efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a laboratory setting, particularly with HPLC and GC.
  • Strong background in chemistry and laboratory techniques.
  • Quality control and GMP knowledge.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to analyze outcomes against standards.
  • Ability to diagnose typical instrument problems independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma with 4-6 years of lab experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Life Science.
