The position of Material Handler is to provide employees and customers with timely, accurate and safe shipping & receiving services.
What You'll Do
- Ships products and materials to customers.
- Interfaces with freight carriers and resolves shipment problems.
- Prepares Shippers Letter of Instructions (SLI's), Commercial Invoices and Pack Slips for use by Freight Forwarders for
- International shipments.
- Receives and processes incoming material in the ERP system.
- Performs cycle counting, inventory transfers and product transfers between multiple Abbott sites.
- Processes material released from Quarantine, working closely with QC/QA to ensure proper handling, segregation and
- control of materials internally and throughout the supply chain.
- Responsible for receiving and shipping of finished goods, raw materials and all shipping and receiving for employees.
- Minimum 5 years Materials handling experience in a related manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Domestic and International shipping regulations and documentation, logistic transportation methods, material handling equipment, computer-based shipping and inventory systems and ISO guidelines.
- Skills in hazardous material handling and shipping.
- The ability to operate a lift truck, negotiate freight costs and terms, communicate with all levels of personnel, work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
