Job Title: Material Coordinator


Job Description

The Material Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the flow of materials across multiple departments within the factory, including shipping and receiving. The role ensures that production personnel have the necessary parts to produce the desired products. Additionally, the coordinator oversees inventory accuracy and timeliness, identifies problems, and suggests improvements to production schedules. The position involves managing the tactical execution of a production plan and may include supervising or directing hourly material handlers, stock chasers, or truckers.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the procurement, expediting, production, and delivery of materials on time for multiple departments.
  • Manage the movement of rejected materials back to the source.
  • Recommend procedures to maintain inventory accuracy and management.
  • Identify and correct the root causes of material shortages.
  • Utilize the Master Schedule to create and distribute daily production schedules.
  • Process transactions for inbound and outbound materials.
  • Audit material replenishment cycles and accuracy, and assist in creating replenishment plans.
  • Resolve inventory errors and expedite parts to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Work with the Material Flow Analyst to research and ensure timely storage of hot parts, including machine down orders.
  • Maintain and correct inventory that has gone negative, reporting findings to supervisors.
  • Assist in making timely trailer moves and monitoring daily shipping sequences.
  • Handle billing requests for outbound loads and evaluate quality-oriented issues with outbound parcels.
  • Address inventory discrepancies discovered on the inbound side.
  • Ensure days of supply for off-site stored materials and order materials when necessary.
  • Monitor email inbox for issues reported by various departments.
  • Perform storage audits to ensure proper processes are being upheld.
  • Investigate picks that cannot be found before submitting a back order.
  • Monitor short stocks for timely replenishment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and maintain cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist with getting mobile equipment to maintenance for preventive maintenance.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems and material planning.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Power BI, and MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work with a Material Flow Analyst.
  • Experience in handling billing and outbound load requests.
  • Problem-solving skills in inventory discrepancies.

Work Environment

This is a first shift position, running from 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. The role requires 50% of the time in the office and 50% on the shop floor. Metatarsals are required for safety. The position may require driving a Deere Gator to navigate the facility. The role is based in the Quad City or Milan Parts Distribution Center.
