Mechanical Assembler – $20/hr (Increase at 90 Days) – St. Charles
Aerotek is hiring Mechanical Assemblers to build low and medium voltage electrical switchgear cabinets. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in assembly, blueprint reading, and hand/power tools in a manufacturing environment.
Job Description:
- Assemble low and medium voltage electrical switchgear cabinets
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders
- Gather materials, hardware, and components for assembly
- Use hand and power tools to complete mechanical assemblies
- Perform basic quality inspections to ensure proper manufacturing
- Follow detailed work instructions and safety guidelines
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret assembly and elevation drawings
- Construct modular steel cabinets and copper buss assemblies
- Measure accurately using tape measures and basic tools
- Utilize hand tools including wrenches, screwdrivers, and pliers
- Operate power tools including drills, impact wrenches, and pneumatic torque wrenches
Requirements:
- At least 1 year of experience as a Mechanical Assembler, Machine Builder, or Automotive Mechanic
- Experience working in a manufacturing or job shop environment
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
- Familiar with hand tools and shop equipment
- Basic math skills (fractions and decimals)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
