Job Summary:

-Responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with The RDI Group’s needs for indirect materials and services, fixed assets and tooling, and select production materials and services.

-Manage all aspects of purchasing activities that include Manufacturing, Casting, Forgings, Flame Cuts, Tool Steel, HR, CR, Pipe, Tubing, Expanded Metal, Brass, Bronze, Laminate Bronze, Plastics, Rubber and Bumpers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; close coordination with all departments to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.

-Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates price and terms with suppliers; recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.

-Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities and advises company activities with concurrence of Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager.

-Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, inventory control and management, negotiates prices and delivery terms with concurrence of Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager.

-Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.

-Visits suppliers’ facilities to qualify them new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems.

-Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc..

-Performs related duties as needed by supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

MUST:

-6+ years of experience working within a manufacturing based setting

-Ability to read and interpret BluePrints and engineering drawings

-Proficiency with the MRP and inventory control systems, experience with real time, integrated MRP system preferred

-Ability to create production plans and reports

-Experience placing purchase orders for various different components

-Experience with inventory and demand planning

-Experience working with finished goods and materials

-Advanced/expert user of Excel - The candidate should have the ability to create production plans and schedule inventory in Excel, this includes using/running formulas and creating readable charts and tables

PLUS:

-Engineering Degree

-Automation Experience

A candidate for the senior buyer role should be able to work from service call to completion, including figuring out suppliers, negotiating pricing, and make decisions that fall within budget.
