Mechanical Engineer

Description:

We are looking for an engineer that will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical engineering including; system designs, specifications, production and field observations for a wide variety of project types including commercial, residential, industrial, health care and educational. Every day is different. Daily work involves juggling a variety of different tasks, including: Doing calculations to determine heating and cooling loads and the energy requirements for a building. Working with a vendors that sell mechanical HVAC equipment. Discussing options, limitations, and how their product will work in the project. Reviewing project drawings (if it's an existing building), and creating new construction documents in AutoCAD and/or Revit The day also involves internal meetings, communication and phone calls where the engineers and architects talk about projects and current assignments. There's a lot of communication happening and a lot of meetings. Majority of the work day will consist of sitting at a computer running simulations of energy performance and load calculations to predict how much energy will be required to keep a building at a stable temperature or humidity. Also uses the computer to predict the temperature and pressure inside pipes and ducts.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. 2-10 years or professional experience performing the responsibilities listed in the job description. Familiar with International and Chicago building codes. Proficiency in AutoCAD Knowledge of Revit (desired but not required). Knowledge of Trane Trace or Carrier HAP load calculation software.
