Job Description
As an Engineering Technician, you will design and develop manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and tooling. You will evaluate equipment, hardware, and tooling, recommending improvements or replacements as needed. You will lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and controls, oversee equipment installation and modifications, and train production staff on new systems. Your role will also include creating and maintaining operations manuals and technical documentation, monitoring emerging manufacturing technologies to improve efficiency and performance, and collaborating with management, production, and engineering teams to support manufacturing objectives.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop manufacturing jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Evaluate equipment, hardware, and tooling; recommend improvements or replacements as needed.
- Lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and controls.
- Oversee equipment installation and modifications; train production staff on new systems.
- Create and maintain operations manuals and technical documentation.
- Monitor emerging manufacturing technologies and apply them to improve efficiency and performance.
- Analyze workflow, floor layout, and equipment utilization to optimize operations.
- Estimate production timelines, labor requirements, and costs to support management decisions.
- Collaborate with management, production, and engineering teams to support manufacturing objectives.
- Use statistical analysis to forecast and plan for future manufacturing needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Troubleshooting, CAD software, machining, and tooling expertise.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a 2-year technical degree (experience can outweigh no degree).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing principles.
- Experience with maintenance, tooling, and machining, including CNC machining, PLCs, process control, pneumatics, and AutoCAD.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform light physical activity on the production floor as needed.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance.
- G-code programming experience required.
- Comfortable operating machines when needed; candidates should have direct machine experience.
Work Environment
You will work in a climate-controlled environment alongside a team of two other engineers, a manager, an assistant manager, and an engineering coordinator. The role involves spending 90% of your time on the production floor and 10% in the office. We tackle everything as a team, ensuring collaborative and supportive work processes.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Charlestown, IN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $71000.00 - $82000.00/yr.
