Primary Purpose: Manufacture basic / routine armature coils, rotor coils, stator coils, equalizer coils, commutating coils, main fields, and equalizer packs. Test complete parts. Performs under direction: - Use stripping machine to strip insulation off of magnet wire. - Use the looping machines for armature, stator, or equalizer coils to put coils in loop form in preparation for the spreading, forming, or insulation process. - Set up and manufacture components on the lead bending table including but not limited to armature coils, rotor coils, and equalizer coils. Contractor will be hammering the coil into shape using coil jig setter (main function of the job) - Wrap coils using various processes and machines including but not limited to manual wrapping, hand wrapping, automatic wrapping, and cell wrapping. - Insulate main fields by fields by following the technical data sheet for the job including wrapping leads, welding connections, installing flange, framing side ground protection, and wrapping the overall surface of the coil.. - Set up and operate the turn taper including loading insulation and wire. - Set up and manufacture stator coil components with the flat coil technology equipment including the understanding of the touch screen panel. - Test completed coil components. - Buff and grind new main poles, commutating poles, and other miscellaneous items. - Operate the steam pit to remove any oil and dirt on newly manufactured poles. - Perform heating to burn insulation off of magnet wire to check wire sizes and when brazing to weld connections. - Pot main fields and commutating coils. - Insulate pole face bars and use hot press to cure resin on them. - Install pole face bars into the slots of main field poles. - Identify unusable or questionable poles and / or coils. - Operate various pieces of equipment including a belt sander, Metabo, buffer, air tools, fork truck lift, hand and foot shear, acetylene and propane torches, vertical band saw, and overhead hoists including bridge and jib. - Make recommendations for manufacturing and safety process improvement. - Meet production goals and quality standards. *Candidates for the position will receive the necessary training to perform the job, prior experience or skill sets not required.
