The incumbent for this position must possess the aptitude, experience, and capacity to provide program oversight and manage the day-to-day activities of multiple business lines under the Single Family Lending umbrella. This includes the areas of, loan processing, underwriting, closing, post-closing, rehab administration, post-purchase counseling, and loss mitigation.
• Provides daily management support and oversight to all subordinate staff including but not limited to timecard management, department scheduling, training, onboarding, answering staff questions, providing consultation on a variety of procedural and department issues, executing signatory authority as needed (i.e. signing loan documents, authorizing expense vouchers, authorizing contractor payments, etc.), performing essential duties as a back-up when necessary, mediating customer concerns or contractor issues, etc.
Act as a sounding board on the inception of new loan products, the evaluation of current loan products, policies, and procedures, and identifies risk factors that may adversely impact the client's reputation, delinquency performance, or marketability of the loan portfolio.
Develops strategies to increase process efficiency and minimize operational costs and establishes accurate and efficient Service Level Agreements for loan fulfillment and closing phases of the mortgage process.
Applies knowledge of client systems, products, policies, and procedures to meet consumer demand.
Implements control mechanisms and best practices throughout the Single Family Lending department to ensure adherence to regulatory compliance and consumer protection statutes.
Analyzes work volumes to detect any recurring trends or patterns, which may be hindering customer service standards.
Oversees the creation and management of daily, monthly, and quarterly pipeline reports that identify negative trends, problem loans, or other fulfillment issues.
Partners with Peer Directors/Managers, provides regular feedback and communicates production metrics, product and process changes, and enhancements that will support the success of the organization and the customer experience.
Consults with Upper Management on service delivery issues, changes to loans products and procedural standards, or adjustments to internal processes.
Provides training or assistance to staff on regulatory or program issues/changes.
Submits files to 3rd party compliance and monitor(s) for quarterly compliance review; responds to findings and provides a written response to concerns and findings when necessary.
Consults with Sr. Management on Compliance Audits/Reviews, and ensure “Satisfactory” ratings are maintained on all Compliance/Audit reviews.
Manages third party vendor relationships, ensuring a high quality of work and customer service standards are met.
Provides job training to department staff in both a structured and “as needed basis”, to ensure knowledge base of staff is sufficient to meet demands of loan production.
Ensures that all mortgage loan file documentation is ordered, reviewed & submitted in a timely fashion; in compliance with all regulatory and investor guidelines to progress mortgage loan files from origination to closing within timelines comparable to (or better than) industry standards.
Keeps self and staff informed of relevant regulatory changes in the industry or organization.
Oversees all aspects of the performance management process for department staff.
Ensures appropriate staffing levels are met to support production standards.
Is involved in continuous process improvement in Single Family Lending.
Reviews recommendations regarding loss mitigation, foreclosure, or property disposition.
Is involved in the recruitment, hiring, and certification of staff.
Is Involved in all aspects of project management as it relates to Loss Mitigation initiatives.
Researches protocol for Loss Mitigation issues and attains appropriate legal counsel when needed.
Prepares data that is presented to the client's Program Committee and attends other client Bard committees as appropriate.
Leads Single Family Lending staff involvement in residential mortgage loan sales, transfer of collateral documents and transfer of loan servicing
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field of study or equivalent work experience
10 or more years in mortgage lending experience required (i.e. origination, processing, or underwriting)
5 or more years of management experience
Loss mitigation experience
Experience utilizing loan origination software and client relationship management systems in the capacity of an administrator preferred
