Surgical Nurse


Job Description

Serve as the clinical and operational leader on the OR floor, ensuring patient safety, staff coordination, and surgical efficiency. Foster a culture of respect, collaboration, and high accountability, while encouraging team development and engagement. Act as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and support services to maintain seamless communication and superior patient outcomes. Demonstrate clinical expertise in perioperative nursing, stepping in to assist in circulating or scrub roles when needed. Lead daily huddles, support shift changes, and ensure optimal room turnover and scheduling flow by coordinating the operating room board.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety, staff coordination, and surgical efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of respect, collaboration, and high accountability.
  • Encourage team development and engagement.
  • Act as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and support services.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in perioperative nursing.
  • Assist in circulating or scrub roles when needed.
  • Lead daily huddles and support shift changes.
  • Ensure optimal room turnover and scheduling flow by coordinating the operating room board.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in the operating room.
  • Registered Nurse with a valid RN License in good standing.
  • Surgical expertise and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Leadership or coordinator experience preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • PALS Certification within six months of employment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the OR or related field.
  • Leadership or coordinator experience is preferred.

Work Environment

Work Monday through Friday with no weekends required. Shifts consist of 4 days with 9.5 hours each.
