Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to perform blood draws, label specimens, and manage specimen processing tasks such as centrifuging, recording maintenance data, and decontamination. The role involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, clearly explaining the venipuncture process to patients, and demonstrating proficiency with straight and butterfly needles. The Phlebotomist must accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required, ensuring compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge and process specimens according to test orders.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients.
- Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperature and integrity.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital or doctor's office.
- Experience in Family Medicine is a plus.
- Proficiency in pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy.
Work Environment
The position offers two shifts: 7am - 3:30pm and 9am - 5:30pm. You will work alongside two other phlebotomists, collectively drawing blood from approximately 120 patients. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to protocols to ensure the integrity of specimens.
