Job Title: Controls Engineer


Job Description

We are seeking a Mid-Level Controls Engineer to join our team for a high-impact automation project at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in St. Joseph, Missouri. This role is ideal for a self-sufficient engineer with a strong background in Pharma Manufacturing, Rockwell PlantPAx, and automation integration. The initial engagement runs from July through January, with strong potential for continued work over the next 3–8 years.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing lines using Rockwell PlantPAx.
  • Integrate automation solutions across sterile manufacturing environments.
  • Generate and maintain detailed documentation in compliance with GMP and FDA standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including validation, quality, and operations.
  • Work independently on-site with limited supervision; report to a Project Manager who will be on-site part-time.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to ensure efficient and compliant operations.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with Rockwell PlantPAx systems.
  • Strong documentation skills, especially in regulated, sterile environments.
  • Local to the St. Joseph, Missouri area or willing to commute daily.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11 and other pharma regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working on long-term automation projects.

Work Environment

The role is primarily on-site at the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in St. Joseph, Missouri, with occasional reporting to the Lenexa site. The work involves collaboration with cross-functional teams in a regulated, sterile environment. Dress code and attire details are not specified.
