Welder

As a Welder, you will set up and operate MIG welders, stick welders, air arc, plasma cutters, torches, and bore tech machines. You will be responsible for welding and fabricating small parts using shear and bender, reading prints to cut metal and weld equipment, and working with both large and small assemblies. You will also cut metal using a plasma arc or hand torch and ensure accurate measurements for building and repairing products. Your role will include performing other assignments as directed by departmental supervision and adhering to all safety rules while maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate MIG welders, stick welders, air arc, plasma cutters, torches, and bore tech machines.
• Weld and fabricate small parts using shear and bender.
• Read prints to cut metal and weld equipment.
• Weld large and small assemblies.
• Cut metal using plasma arc or hand torch.
• Cut straight lines or bevel long edges with a torch or plasma arc.
• Measure correct lengths and widths to build and repair products.
• Perform other assignments at the direction of departmental supervision.
• Obey all safety rules and perform housekeeping functions.

• Proficiency in MIG welding and stick welding.
• Ability to operate a plasma torch.
• Blueprint reading skills.

• Willingness to consider candidates right out of school, provided they have obtained their certifications.

Work Environment

The work environment is a non-climate-controlled, well-kept shop where you will work on mining equipment, which can be dirty. The position is for the second shift, running from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday. Overtime is voluntary at first, then mandated if necessary. Any hours worked over 8 are paid at 1.5 times the regular rate, with Saturdays also at 1.5 times pay and Sundays at double pay.
