Job Title: Controls Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Controls Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing automation control systems from customer specifications, developing electrical drawings, and programming automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, and vision systems. They will also specify electrical equipment and materials, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and design and debug Data Acquisition systems (SCADA).

Responsibilities

  • Design automation control systems from customer specifications.
  • Develop electrical drawings for control systems.
  • Program automation and control systems involving PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, and vision systems.
  • Specify electrical equipment and materials based on calculations, customer specifications, and engineering principles.
  • Quickly troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Design and debug Data Acquisition systems (SCADA).
  • Power-up, debug, and calibrate control systems.
  • Follow all company processes and checklists.
  • Support the development of standardized design platforms.
Essential Skills
  • Proficient in PLC programming and ladder logic.
  • Experience with Rockwell software.
  • Strong HMI programming and debugging skills.
  • Hands-on industrial electrical experience and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read, revise, and create new logic, HMI/SCADA programs, and VFD parameters.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability of writing and modifying logic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with conveyor systems including Skid, Skillet, Pallet, Friction Drive, EMS, Power & Free.
  • Experience in controls engineering, Rockwell systems, and design.
Work Environment

The position operates out of an engineering office directly across from a major truck plant. The office environment is casual and fun, though it can become intense during shutdown periods when deadlines are tight. The primary customer is a leading automobile manufacturer, requiring flexibility with hours, including long days and weekends as necessary. Safety gear such as vests, glasses, Kevlar sleeves, and ear plugs are required when working at the plant. This role is primarily a first shift job working 45-50 hours per week, with potential for over 60 hours during shutdown periods.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
