Description:
Development, optimization, characterization, scale-up and technical transfer of GMP-compliant manufacturing processes for recombinant viral vectors. This position requires broad scientific understanding and hands-on execution of a variety of downstream, harvest and purification unit operations, with a focus on depth and membrane filtration and TFF
What you’ll be doing
• Contributes to the development of robust, high-yielding, scalable and economically viable purification processes for the production of AAV products using bench scale and pilot scale disposable downstream equipment
• Contributes to experimental design
• Executes experiments and contributes to data analysis and interpretation
• Contribute to process scale-up and support GMP operations through technology transfer and process troubleshooting
• Contributes to the evaluation and implementation of new methods, techniques, equipment and technology platforms
• Coordinates with relevant groups in technical operations and research and development
• Performs standard analytical methods to characterize biologics - HPLC, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, protein assays, spectrophotometer.
• Active participation in daily maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Embody company core values by working collaboratively building strong relationships, and using clear communication to meet shared objectives
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific discipline with at least 2+ years relevant industry experience or master’s degree in relevant scientific discipline with 1+ year of relevant industry experience in GMP manufacturing, Quality or Process Development
Hands on experience with Chromatography (ion exchange, hydrophobic interaction, mixed mode, affinity, etc.), and Filtration; depth filters for clarification, membranes in normal flow (NF) and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
Familiar with purification scale-up and/or tech transfer concepts
Ability to perform routine analysis on moderately complex datasets
Familiar with good lab practices including equipment maintenance and use of biochemical analytical tools
Intermediate computer skills using MS Office
Ability to perform assigned experiments and independently perform routine activities
Ability to process data into meaningful representations
Ability to understand the experimental process and objectives in order to recognize atypical results
Ability to perform basic/routine data analysis
Ability to communicate information and results in appropriate format (lab notebook, presentations)
Work collaboratively and effectively as part of team
