Purpose: Use laboratory skills to contribute to the formulation and testing of UV curable binder mixes. Scope: Laboratory assistance; record and document data; operate equipment Summary: Assist chemists and chemical engineer in laboratory receipt, storage, labeling, formulation, mixing, lab testing, measurement, cleanup and data recording of new UV curable binder and coating systems. This work contributes to Miltec UV International’s development of UV curable chemistry and processes with the intent of selling chemistry and equipment to the Lithium Ion Battery Industry and its suppliers. Duties and Responsibilities • Prepare chemical mixtures according to defined recipes (weigh and mix raw materials) • Use lab tools/equipment to prepare coating samples • Test coating performance according to established procedures • Mix and apply high particle coatings • Work in glove box to assemble coin or pouch cells • Test batteries with AC Impedance and DC cycling techniques • Perform chemical QC tests and characterize coatings using analytical instruments • Data entry and basic data analysis (e.g., create scatter plots, find average/standard deviation) • Additional duties will include documenting processes • Maintain inventory of lab supplies • Maintain clean lab environment • Operate equipment – slot die, flexographic, roll coater, etc.

Minimum Requirements • AA Degree and/or pursing a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related fields • Relevant Lab experience is a must • Aptitude with equipment, tools, and mechanical operation • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities • Requires Microsoft office skills, especially Excel • Knowledge of the printing industry and/or Lithium-Ion batteries strongly preferred • Absolute attention to detail • Computer literate • Proficient with lab equipment – scales, viscometers, etc. • Ability to multi-task • Team oriented – good interpersonal skills Education and/or Experience • AA degree in a scientific discipline preferred • Pursuing BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science Work Environment • Lab and office work environments.
