A Research Associate position in analytical chemistry is available immediately in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Analytical Chemistry team supporting project teams across the company working to develop proprietary solutions to deliver a range of active ingredients to perennials, vegetables and row crops and their most devastating pests and pathogens. Primary responsibilities include sample preparation, HPLC-MS operation and maintenance, and data analysis and interpretation. Related responsibilities include optimization of sample preparation procedures and existing analytical assays, as well as the development of new analytical assays. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated and be comfortable working independently and as a member of a team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Accurately follows existing chromatographic separation and Mass Spectrometry (HPLC-MS) methods to quantify standards and active ingredients present in various soil and biological samples

• Performs assays to detect and characterize new compounds and potential metabolites

• Optimizes analytical assays to measure target molecules in various samples, with an emphasis on increasing throughput and reducing turnaround time

• Operates and maintains Waters/Sciex HPLC-MS and other analytical instrumentation

• Contributes to laboratory management and is an active member of the safety team

• Maintains electronic notebook entries to accurately document daily research activities

• Prepares protocols, SOWs, and reports, and creates new document templates in MS Word and Excel

• Participates in regular scientific and one-on-one meetings with the broader research team to understand project needs, provide technical insight, and communicate status of ongoing work

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Qualifications (Requirements):

• BS or MS in any area of chemistry or biology

• 1+ years of industry experience

Experience & Credentials:

• Hands on experience and technical knowledge of HPLC and mass spectrometry

• Experience with method development, validation, and data analysis

• Experience using a range of analytical software tools (e.g., XCalibur, OpenLab, MassLunx)
