Job Title: Production Planner
Job Description:
As a Production Planner, you will coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials according to production schedules. Your responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling and Coordination: Generate, review, and distribute production, work, and shipment schedules.
- Determine progress of work and completion dates.
- Price and estimate costs for proposal efforts and earned value inputs for all assigned programs.
- Reporting and Analysis: Compile reports on work progress, forecasting, and maintaining required inventory levels.
- Devise solutions to production problems and variances in the production schedule.
- Present solutions to management.
- Training and Support: Demonstrate proficiency in all planning functions.
- Assist the Planning Supervisor in training and coaching on best practices.
- Resource Management: Forecast resource volume and timing to meet customer orders.
- Prepare and present implementation plans to management that minimize risks and costs.
- Set up review points to monitor job progress.
Work Site:
This is a fully on-site position in Columbia, Maryland.
Work Environment:
You will work in an engineering environment with small production capabilities located in Columbia, MD. The role is primarily office-based in a professional engineering setting. Full-time onsite work is required, with the potential for a hybrid schedule in the future based on performance, although no guaranteed timeline exists for this transition.
Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing (willing to consider candidates with an Associate’s Degree and higher experience).
- 7 years of experience in Production or Materials Planning in a manufacturing environment, preferably in low-volume prototype manufacturing or electromechanical assembly.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Deltek/Costpoint.
- Complete understanding of manufacturing planning processes.
- Strong knowledge of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
- Proficiency with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
- Demonstrated experience with material planning, maintaining proper inventory levels, and providing analysis for inventory disposition, stocking plans, and inventory movement.
