Leidos is seeking a Chief Software Architect to join the CTO team for a complex, large-scale DoD program in Fort Meade, MD. In this role, you will lead and oversee the planning and development of overall systems architectures, drive and perform analysis of alternatives to ensure the Government properly architects' business and mission solutions using optimum systems and services across a variety of customer missions and task orders within the GSM-O II contract. Our TNs provide next generation software capabilities to drive delivery across missions that include JIATF-S, DISN operations optimization, The White House, SAP missions across the DoD, Cross domain technologies and various combatant commands around the world.

Our Chief Software Architect is a leader of cultural and technology change. The system architectures require cloud strategies and driving adoption of cloud-based solution; methodologies for building and operating highly available, scalable services; emphasis on continual process improvement through automation and introduction of resilient and self-healing applications and workflows. Product line documentation and baseline management are also core to the responsibilities of this leadership role.

We are seeking a servant leader who has the technical depth and interpersonal communication skills necessary to inspire, lead, direct, and develop sound/resilient architectural solutions for this complex program, while interfacing and building relationships with senior customer and Leidos internal leadership, alike.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead architecture and design of high-performance capabilities for DoD and DISA.
  • Partner with Task Order technical leadership to ensure implementation of software development best practices, standards, guidelines and drive consistency and best practices across the IDIQ
  • Drive innovation and industry trend awareness; Leading teams in DevOps & Agile best practices and Mentor and guide technical teams, fostering innovation and excellence
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and translate them into solutions to ensure the security, scalability, and sustainability of all systems; Translating system requirements into secure, scalable solutions.
  • Integrate new technologies into architectures and evaluate tools for high-quality delivery.
  • Lead teams in DevOps & Agile best practices and mentor technical teams.
  • Support the CTO team in driving innovation, creation of Roadmaps, and thought leadership within the customer domain. Maintain and forward-looking perspective on industry trends and emerging technologies
  • Document model development processes, results, and best practices for knowledge sharing and reproducibility. Ensuring security best practices are integrated into the development lifecycle, including compliance with data protection regulations. Assisting in creating technical documentation and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's with 15 years or Bachelor's degree in a related field with 19 years of experience or 15+ years in software development/architecture.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, cloud computing, distributed systems, and microservices architecture; In-depth knowledge of system architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud), distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with data architectures and pipelines for structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data across various data repositories and data lakes.
  • Experience with front-end technologies, UI/UX design, and Agile DevSecOps tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum ceremonies and experience with Agile work management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders.
  • Currently possess a Top Secret clearance with the ability to get TS-SCI.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with 15+ years in systems architecture and leadership roles.
  • Strong proficiency in scalable microservices, UI/UX design, and full-stack development.
  • Proven expertise in mission software solutions related to data science, machine learning, or similar technologies.
  • Previous experience with the DISA domain, and the DoD or Intelligence Community communities.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML models for processing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Completed certifications in system architecture, cloud, or network solutions (e.g., AWS, Cisco, IBM, VMware).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technological innovation and serve as an agent of change within an organization.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
