Job Title: Phlebotomist II


Job Description

Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.


Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture blood drawing and/or other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, as required. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport. Store specimen samples according to required temperatures, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain the integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.


Shift: 8:00am-6:30pm


This is a FLOAT position - Home Base site would be located in Dearborn. They would be expected to float to multiple locations in Metro Detroit. Because of this, their schedule needs to be flexible between 8am-630pm. Mileage expensed beyond commute to home base site.

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 13 Weekly.


Work Site

This is a fully on-site position with Dearborn, Michigan being the home base. Must be willing to travel or "float" to multiple locations across metro Detroit.

*** MILEAGE expensed beyond commute to dearborn.
