Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting product assembly flow, designing, developing and implementing manufacturing processes, and managing product and materials coming in and out of the company. Currently, parts are sourced from a local supplier, brought into the facility, assembled, and sent out. The company is installing a clean room where products will undergo an additional sterilization process before shipping. Responsibilities include supporting manual assembly, heat shrinking, and lock tight UV gluing for smaller parts. The role also involves building schedules/processes, designing fixtures, and understanding GD&T and dimensioning. Day to Day Responsibilities: - Maintain and improve controlled technical documents such as prints, procedures, bill of materials, and routers. - Support various processing applications including machining, finishing, forging, casting, cleaning, heat treating, bonding, and molding. - Conduct feasibility studies to estimate product cost and analyze capital equipment, capacity, and capability requirements. - Improve process methods to meet performance and quality requirements. - Execute project plans and schedules for acquisitions, CAPAs, improvement projects, and process flow projects. - Communicate with personnel from other departments. - Partner with cross-functional departments to make process and procedure recommendations. - Establish full protocols for a clean room environment and maintain required inspection and documentation. - Develop problem-solving methods and learn to lead kaizen events. - Support process and product validations, incoming inspection, end of line quality controls, and packaging. - Take initiative and provide recommendations on process, procedure, and training. - Independently handle and prioritize multiple medium complexity project assignments and complete work in a timely manner.
Hard Skills
- Engineering Degree
- Proficient in Solidworks
- Understanding in Lean Manufacturing Methodology
- Experience working in ISO and FDA regulated environments (at least 2 years)
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software

Job Type
This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Schoolcraft, Michigan.
Work Environment
They will work 40-45 hours a week, reporting to the Director of Engineering. Some travel involved up to 20%, more likely 10-15%. Occasional evening work may be required for correspondence with customers, distributors, and regulatory bodies. The company is a medical device firm founded in early 2019, growing from 55 employees and expanding their manufacturing capabilities.
